Photographer | Nikki Belyea

I get asked a lot how many photographers there are at Moxie Images, well it is just me, Nikki. I am a mom, wife, photographer, and teacher. I started my photography business way before being a mom or even a wife. Starting in my hometown of Anchorage, Alaska I took 2 years of photography classes at a career center during high school (age 16-17) while also working at a portrait studio, and interning with a wedding photographer. I loved it and decided to go off to college (for photography) and ended up here, at Spokane Falls Community College, graduating with an AA Degree in Photography. I started my business that same month... June 2003, at the age of 20. I started with what most photographers think are the hardest work… weddings, which since then have exceeded to be over 250 of them and counting! My work continued to spread to babies, kids, seniors, and families when my wedding clients started families and other referrals came in. I moved and grew into different studio spaces over the years, going from Browne’s Addition to the middle of downtown to the north side, and now I have settled comfortably working from my home studio. I married my husband, Jason, in 2008 and we've since had 3 beautiful babies, 1 girl and 2 boys and I have a stepdaughter. With 3 kids at home ages 13, 11, 8, and a 26 year-old, I understand the importance of capturing memories, as everything changes so quickly.

My work has not stopped there though! In 2017 I decided to continue my college education to be able to work with kids beyond just taking their pictures. I completed my Elementary Education degree while continuing my photography business. Not exactly a career change, but a career addition! I now also teach Art in Elementary Schools, passing on my love for art and sharing how an art career has been rewarding for me. I even get to teach them a little about photography and design in the yearbook club!

I feel blessed I chose a passion to pursue at such a young age and have been able to continue this work through all my seasons of life so far... especially during this journey of marriage, motherhood, and now teaching! It is a creative outlet that I find joy in, both behind the camera and during the computer magic later.

Most importantly I feel honored to be chosen to capture parts of my client's journeys and would love to capture a part of your journey too! I'm not sure where to start... Nikki was with us from the very beginning. With our package, we received a complimentary engagement session. All of our pictures, engagement and wedding, were phenomenal! She really went above and beyond capturing the little moments that we sometimes miss. Nikki was an amazing photographer for our wedding and engagement photos (which was a free session with our package). She really went the extra mile to accomodate all our requests for specific shots for our engagement photos and on the day of the wedding. She was flexible in the timing of taking the photos as we were ruinning a little late getting pictures started. With our package, we were given a copy of all the photos and are now choosing the photos that we want to include with our album that she is designing. Also, about two days after the wedding, she emailed us a slideshow of the entire day, showing us the best shots from start to finish. This was a great way to share our big day with those who were not able to come. Nikki is open to ideas and made both of us just really feel relaxed and at ease.
