Kelsey and Erik celebrated their marriage at Arbor Crest Winery on June 23rd. Arbor Crest is a beautiful venue. I was prepared for the worst in weather that day. Thunderstorm warnings were all over Saturday's forecast. I thought we'd have a pretty cool view of the storm from up there too! Somehow the clouds parted and the blue skies and white puffy clouds arrived just in time for photos and all the festivities. Their sit down dinner was served by Catered For You and they did an amazing job! Not only was in tasty it was beautiful, if food can be beautiful?! Flowers were created by Dawn with Allen and Green Floral - and aren't those amazing! The Make-Up Studio did Kelsey's make-up, Jazz Salon for her hair, Ruby Frog Entertainment as their DJ and Just American Desserts for the cake! How could you go wrong with all these fabulous vendors? Check out the slideshow...
Spokane Wedding Photographer / Tania and Jon at Glover Mansion
Tania and Jon were married at The Glover Mansion in Spokane on Sunday, June 17th. With all the rain this June has been getting they truly lucked out on a decent weekend weather wise. Their ceremony was held outside under the beautiful arbor. Tania and Jon are the most laid back and easy going couple and I really enjoyed working with them! Here are some photos to preview the special day! Make sure to check out the slideshow as well.
Spokane Newborn Photographer / Baby Elijah
Elijah is here! Our friends have a perfect little guy...
Spokane Newborn Photographer / Baby Kaia
Kaia has arrived and with a big debut. She was born at her home in daddy's arms before the midwife got there! So amazing. She's adorable of course! I couldn't believe all her hair. She has a hundred times more hair than my 16 month old... *jealous*! I've been so excited to get to these this past week and happy to share a few...
Spokane Baby Photographer / Baby Daniel
Little Daniel is getting so big! What a sweet face...
Spokane Family Photographer / Welcome Baby Hattie
This family recently added a new addition to their family. Little Hattie is 6 weeks old!
Destination Family Photographer / McClelland Family in Meridian, ID
I visited Boise, ID last weekend and photographed a friend's family there! Both of us from Anchorage, Alaska and now both of us in the lower 48! It doesn't seem as impossible to see each other now that it's a car ride away rather than a plane ride away. I've known Whitney since kindergarten and it's amazing to see her kiddos growing up now! Her boys are 9, 6, 5 and 2. On Mother's Day we visited a park nearby their home in Meridian and had lots of photo opportunities. A perfect Mother's Day gift from all her boys to cooperate for photos for her!!! And the weather was perfect.
Spokane Children Photographer / Thoeny Family
You don't think this big sister is in love do you?! :) They are both beautiful little girls.
Spokane Maternity Photographer / Hilary and Justin
How cute are these two?! Hilary and Justin are good friends of ours and we are so excited to have another couple out of this group to have another baby around! Yeah! Just another month and we'll meet this little guy.
Spokane Maternity Photographer / Amanda and Cameron
Wow, time flies. I photographed Amanda and Cameron's wedding in 2006! Now after some hard work... seriously, graduate school and all, they are finally so excited and happy to welcome baby Kaia into their lives. I couldn't be happier for them.
Spokane Portrait Photographer / Mandy in Empire Classic
I took these photos for Mandy who worked her butt off, literally - and every other part of her body - to compete in the Empire Classic. The competition happens to be today at Quest Casino, so thought I'd post a few images of her hotness! Good luck Mandy! Mandy is a personal trainer with Hilary at Threshold Fitness in downtown Spokane. Hilary is my trainer... they are both awesome if you are looking for a quick 15 minute workout 2-3 times a week.
Coeur d'Alene Engagement Photographer / Tania and Jon
I had so much fun getting to know Tania and Jon while seeing some sunshine. After rescheduling because of rain, wind and cold twice we finally enjoyed one of the first warm days of the year! Walking around Coeur d'Alene for the first time this year really made me realize summer is on it's way. Tania and Jon are getting married in just 7 short weeks!

Spokane Family Photographer / The soon to be Cannon Family
Tara and Brandon are getting married in September and I photographed their engagement session a few weeks ago. We wanted to include Brandon's daughter, however she was sick that day! They popped in the studio last weekend to take a few more of them as a family and couldn't help take some of his daughter by herself too... she's so beautiful!

Spokane Bridal Festival / Engagement Session Winner
One of my sessions this weekend was the lucky drawing winner, Cheyenne, from January's Spokane Bridal Fair. I loved that Cheyenne and James came with a theme. As you can see, I just had to feature this shoot on the blog! This is sure to get the creative juices flowing for anyone looking for ideas for their own sessions... the options are endless, have fun with it!
Professional Photographers at Play / After Dark Education in Dallas, TX
After 6 WPPI's and numerous other conventions/workshops over the years, this past week I had the pleasure of attending the most hands on photography experience I've ever been to. It's called After Dark. Some may wonder what that means, but it means exactly that! The real learning begins at night. My days started early to get in line to rent the equipment I wanted to play with that day. Canon was kind enough to do free clean and checks on 2 pieces of everyone's equipment as well. Mentor meet and greets and vendors were available mid morning. Small groups gathered starting at 1:30pm. At that time I'd go out shooting or attend a classroom listening to some amazing photographers! I got to watch, work and chat with: Beth Jansen, Chuck Arlund, Jason Groupp, Julie Klaasmeyer, Kathy Holcombe, Leslie Spurlock, Matt Lucas, Mike Ridinger, Peter Holcombe, Stephanie Zettl, Dave Junion and Victoria Myszka... and that was only a third of the mentors there! There was not one question during this that I wasn't able to ask. The groups were small and everyone was heard. The mentors were able to stop and answer anything. This continued until midnight. After midnight it was play time! We had beautiful models the entire 3 days available for us to practice on too. I met some really great people and learned lots! Although I only slept 3-4 hours each night for 5 days, I'm ready to do it again! Check out the images below to see some of the shoots I worked on this week. Working with Julie Klassmeyer...
and Julie Klassmeyer's beautiful daughters modeled for us in Beth Jansen's class. Her youngest is already a professional photographer!
Beth Jansen working her natural light talent.
Working with Leslie Spurlock... another natural light talent!
Working with Chuck Arlund and Jason Groupp. Below you'll see their "ghetto ring flash", but it works!
Chuck Arlund boudoir session in the hotel room...
And some more shots... the bottom right was one of my lovely roommates.
As you can see I had 3 full days of fun, shooting and learning. Can't wait to do it again!
